We care about you, your health, and your safety. We also still want to help you achieve your goals of changing your career and becoming a developer. As such, until further notice, all Grand Circus workshops will be offered remotely via Zoom.
What is Java? Why is it great?
Our Intro to Java workshop is perfect for those interested in attending a Back-End Bootcamp (Java or C# .NET) at Grand Circus who want more insight into what working with a back-end language is really like. With the guidance of one of our highly qualified instructors, you’ll learn the core functionality of the Eclipse IDE, the fundamentals of Java, and build several console applications. You’ll explore variables and boolean logic, conditionals, loops, input, and output, and learn to manipulate strings and generate random numbers. You’ll leave the class with a strong understanding of the basics of Java, a project you can continue to develop, and insight into whether you want to join a back-end bootcamp.
Back-end development is a great place for all kinds of creative minds; if you like to think big picture, give this workshop a try! Interested in C# .NET? This workshop is a great place to start, too. We firmly believe once you get comfortable with one back-end language, it’s much easier to learn another.
Students should be comfortable operating their laptop: Starting up, opening software, copying and pasting, opening a web browser, searching the web, going to a specific URL (web address), and navigating within a website.
Software to Install: Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java Developers https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/
Google Chrome is the preferred web browser for this workshop: https://www.google.com/chrome/
