At Grand Circus, we train students for jobs in Michigan’s fastest growing tech companies. We know that anyone can be a developer, so we’re passionate about educating career transitioners in coding and other skills that lead to high-growth careers. We can’t do that without a passionate team of teachers, TA’s and program managers, and we’re looking for someone with the chops to lead a passionate team by example. What Does A Campus Director in Detroit do?

Campus Directors are the operational head of each campus – that means that a great Campus Director feels comfortable wearing many hats and ensuring that every member of their campus community – from students through bootcamp staff – feel like family. Great Campus Directors are enthusiastic about community, love the pursuit of greatness through feedback and continuous improvement, have a positive attitude but are comfortable with tough-love moments, and are ready to lead a diverse team who are eager to make an impact in tech in Southeast Michigan. This Campus Director sits in Grand Circus’ headquarters, and his/her general responsibilities are a little like something like this:

  • Leading day-to-day operations of the Detroit bootcamp team
  • Team recruiting, hiring and onboarding for bootcamp staff
  • Ensuring excellent student experience in the Detroit campus
  • Networking to build and maintain relationships with the community, including mentors, alumni and employers
  • Supporting, mentoring, and leading Detroit bootcamp team members
  • Classroom observations and feedback sessions with team members and students
  • Local campus NPS
  • Coordination & feedback loop with Director of Learning to roll out or update policies, curriculum, roles, and responsibilities
  • Collaborate with leadership to set goals, determine resource requirements, and make key strategic decisions

What Are We Looking For?

We are looking for an organizational superhuman who’s passionate about community, comfortable wearing many hats and who can embrace being the face of campus operations for Detroit. What that means is that we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is organized, compassionate, and confident
  • Is creative
  • Has experience leading a team with diverse perspectives
  • Can strike the fine balance between positive & tough-love
  • Is comfortable leading in an often ambiguous and ever-changing atmosphere
  • Can be the public face of our Campus, including public speaking and networking
  • Actively & authentically engages local employers

It would be awesome if our new Campus Director also…

  • Has bootcamp experience
  • Can demonstrate great community network in Southeast Michigan
