Grand Circus Partners

Working together, we can accomplish anything

We’re particularly proud of the partnerships we’ve formed within the Detroit tech community and with national tech resources.

Google For Entrepreneurs Partner Network

Grand Circus is one of ten Google for Entrepreneurs tech hubs. Through this partnership we run a series of events, hold office hours and create programming to support the needs of Detroit’s tech entrepreneurial community.  We also provide access to key Google technologies to help these companies grow.

Every year, through this partnership, we host a citywide demo day to select Detroit’s best startup, which then goes on to compete at a national Google Demo Day competition in Mountain View, California.

Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC)

DESC is Detroit’s workforce development agency that helps Detroit employers find employees and jobseekers find jobs. DESC has funded several adult and youth programs at Grand Circus and continues to play the role of our fiduciary partner in the Grand Circus Diversity fund.

This fund provides funding to grow diversity in tech by training underrepresented people, specifically women, veterans and people of color.

Tech Hire Initiative Whitehouse

The U.S. Department of Labor launched TechHire in 2015 to address the large number of unfilled IT positions in the United States by training more tech professionals. Since we were selected to take part in the original program pilot of twenty-one cities, Grand Circus has provided curricula that directly address the needs of our region’s top companies.

We’ve partnered with some of the largest metro Detroit employers like GM (Onstar), Quicken Loans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, who interview and hire Grand Circus graduates. In total, the employers that we’re partnered with through TechHire represent roughly 80% of open IT positions in the City of Detroit.

Develop Her a coding bootcamp for women in Detroit

The Grand Circus DEVELOP(her) Bootcamp aims to increase the number of women in the tech industry and support women programmers as they grow in their careers. The program integrates mentorship, professional development and guaranteed employment with local Michigan employers.

DEVELOP(her) is free to participants due to the generosity of the Hagerman Foundation and TEKsystems and their commitment to diversity in tech. The mentoring of students is made possible through the support of Michigan’s Council for Women in Technology (MCWT).
