Design for Innovation Workshop

This 2-day interactive workshop teaches design and creativity as tools that accelerate innovative thinking and uncover new opportunities to create value for the people in your everyday work.

Over two 3-hour sessions, the Design for Innovation workshop will feature an overview on design methods including design thinking or human-centered design and guide participants through a creative problem-solving process that can be applied to their own projects. Participants will go beyond the introductory phase and review the fundamentals of applying design to frame problems into opportunities and unique concepts.

The workshop is designed to be highly engaging and participatory. Adopting the "learning by doing" principle, we will spend most of our time doing. Participants should come with an open mind, prepared to learn, collaborate, work, and (serious) play!

What will I learn?

We will work in team to tackle a relevant challenge in a supportive, collaborative and fun learning environment. The course will include strategic design techniques like design research, visualisation, and mapping. We will also develop new ideas to test and refine for practice or future action.

Your instructor, Terri Burch, Design Strategist, leads Business Design Co., a Detroit-based strategic design consultancy that partners with doers and change agents leading innovation in their organizations and community to facilitate team collaborations and guide strategic decision-making. She has over 13 years experience in advisory roles to non-profits, SMEs, and multinational organizations. She is also a Strategic Design MBA fellow, certified design charrette community planning facilitator, and partners with DesignThinkers Group USA as a Service Designer.

Refund for Cancellation: An applicant requesting cancellation within three (3) business days after making an initial payment, but prior to seminar or workshop start date, is entitled to a refund of all tuition and fees paid with the exception of the non-refundable deposit (if applicable).
