Intro to Coding - Grand Circus

Workshops

Intro to Coding

This free, three-hour workshop is open to everyone and is designed for those who are curious about coding, but who have very little or no coding experience.

You’ll learn about the tech industry directly from Grand Circus alumni who have made the jump to a career in tech and leave with a finished coded project you can show off to family and friends. That’s pretty cool.

Introduction to Coding

This critical first step towards your new career will provide you with basic programming terminology (like Syntax - trust us, it's an important one) and a taste of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Our workshops are taught by Grand Circus bootcamp graduates who are currently working in tech. They are a wealth of knowledge about all things Grand Circus and the tech community - and they love to talk about both! Once you complete this workshop, you will have a solid understanding of job opportunities in the tech industry and how to become a developer by attending a Grand Circus bootcamp.

What do you need for the workshop?

  • Laptop if you have one (let us know when you register if you need to borrow one)
  • Google Chrome installed. Everything we do will be in the browser, you don’t need to download anything
  • Basic computer knowledge is required for the best workshop experience
  • A willingness to learn something new

We recommend you start with our Free Intro to Coding Workshops. These three-hour workshops cover the basics of JavaScript and are a great first step for learning how to code. The course is created for people with little-to-no coding experience. You can also attend one of our monthly Info Sessions. Our Info Sessions give you a chance to meet Grand Circus staff and alumni, review curriculum and check out our space in Detroit. It is estimated that 1 million computer-programming jobs will be left unfilled by 2020. Coding bootcamps like ours help fill that gap much more quickly than colleges can. Our team will help you through the process of learning code and coach and support you as you prepare for a career you’ll love.
