In light of COVID-19, how are you offering workshops?
We care about you, your health, and your safety. We also still want to help you achieve your goals of changing your career and becoming a developer. As such, until further notice, all Grand Circus workshops will be offered remotely via Zoom. You’ll still get expert instruction, one-on-one support, and the family-feel of Grand Circus, all while we collectively work to Flatten the Curve.
What do I need for a workshop?
Find a quiet space, free of distraction. You will need a computer, an open mind and your enthusiasm. Some of our workshops require
What kind of laptop do I need? Mac or PC?
You can complete the work in our courses with either system. We recommend using the Google Chrome browser, so you may wish to download it beforehand.
Who are your instructors?
Our instructors come from a variety of backgrounds, including PhDs, seasoned developers, bootcamp alumni, industry professionals and other tech enthusiasts.
Grand Circus instructors are actively engaged in Michigan’s tech community, leading workshops for organizations like Wayne State University, the Penguicon Conference,
Girl Develop It and more. All instructors and course work are reviewed and approved by our Director of Learning.
Where do I park and how much does it cost?
There are several
parking lots within walking distance of Grand Circus. Street parking can also be found throughout our neighborhood. Street parking is generally the cheapest; lot prices vary depending on day and time. (Pro tip: Tigers games can make parking more difficult. Be sure to consider the team’s schedule when planning your trip to Detroit.)

Our
twelve-week coding bootcamps prepare students with both technical and soft skills that employers are looking for in the recruitment process. We support our students from the time they learn their very first line of code until they find a career they’ll love.

I’m completely new to coding. Where should I start?
We recommend you start with our Free Intro to Coding Workshops. These three-hour workshops cover the basics of JavaScript and are a great first step for learning how to code. The course is created for people with little-to-no coding experience. You can also attend of our monthly Info Sessions. Our Info Sessions give you a chance to meet Grand Circus staff and alumni, review curriculum and check out our space in Detroit. It is estimated that 1 million computer-programming jobs will be left unfilled by 2020. Coding bootcamps like ours help fill that gap much more quickly than colleges can. Our team will help you through the process of learning code and coach and support you as you prepare for a career you’ll love.
Why would I choose Grand Circus over a free online course or a computer science (CS) degree?
Taking a coding bootcamp at Grand Circus is an effective and affordable path to starting your tech career. Many of our students find that the in-person instruction and support makes learning to code significantly easier than taking an online course.
A CS degree is an option, though in a campus environment, it can be challenging to get the practical training and career prep necessary to get your first tech job. Many students come to our bootcamp programs with a CS degree, as a way to amplify their coding knowledge, create portfolio pieces and gain employer connections.

What programs do you offer in West Michigan?
We are proud to provide tech training for West Michiganders through our
.NET(C#) coding bootcamp and
Front-End coding Bootcamp both offered at our campus in Grand Rapids. This program trains individuals to work as entry-level developers.
