Update: Antonella now works for Grand Circus as a Java Instructor.

An entrepreneur at heart, Antonella joined our Java Bootcamp in February after a career in insurance. After building a company from scratch, Antonella decided to take the leap into a career in technology, a love she had since early school. After graduating, Antonella nabbed a job building software for Milliken Millwork.

antonellaWhat does a typical morning look like at your job?
A typical morning at my job usually consists of a small 5-10 minute meeting (sometime between 8-8:30am) to discuss our objectives for the day and anything that we think may be a problem or we may need additional help with. The rest of the morning is usually spent working on any projects that we need to work on.

What does your development team look like?
Our Software Development team is small, consisting of 3 people including myself. Our entire IT department has about 10 people on it. I report directly to the Software Development team leader and to the IT Director. We have various impromptu team meetings whenever the need arises.

What does your office look like – is it a fun, open space? Do you work in an office or at a large table with your teammates?
My office is an open environment. My team and I all have our own workstations that are closely located to each other to give up the ability meet or work on projects together if needed. We are given the freedom to pair program if needed as well.

What is the company culture like? Do you have team outings or lunches?
The company culture is very progressive. We are encouraged to think outside the box and have the ability to create business solutions with various types of technology and programming languages. I enjoy working in this type of environment because I like the challenge of being able to create custom solutions that make an impact on the efficiency of the entire company. My company does have team outings that are fun and usually specific to your team.
